It’s all about YOU!

“It’s my job to make it easy for you to get fit.”

There is nothing more pleasurable than being able to move easily and get into the flow of exercising. For many of us, just the thought of exercising can be daunting, and I’m here to help you.

My name is Tracy and I’ve been running Griffen Fitness for over 18 years. Ever since I was wee, it was my dream to open a fitness studio. I’ve always been active, enjoying adventures on my bike all through my childhood, and also on foot. I love sharing adventures, and I see getting fit as a journey for my clients.

Back in 2002 I qualified as a fitness instructor, and then further as a Personal Trainer with aerobics and aqua aerobics qualifications. I launched Griffen Fitness in 2005, initially riding my bike to client’s homes and workplaces around Edinburgh, teaching them how to get fit without a gym.

Things got so busy that I opened a private studio just off Leith Walk in 2010. My fitness studio is just downstairs from where I live, and it’s a lovely airy and bright private space for you to enjoy. Over the years I’ve collected various accreditations, from BodyBalance (2005) to boxing (2007), kettlebells (2009) and GP Referral (2015). Having had a cerebral edema, leading to symptoms of a stroke when I was much younger, I have a keen interest in neurology and psychology. Over lockdown I completed a SVQ2 in Mental Health problems, and understand the importance of exercise to help alleviate anxiety and depression. More recently, ‘Covid-19 Rehabilitation’ certification was added to the Griffen Fitness portfolio, July 2021.

When considering ‘calories out’ (exercise) it’s also important to consider ‘calories in’ (nutrition). Food is an important part of life, and socialising with food is a favourite pastime. I love food so much that in 2010 published the Healthy Living Yearbook, jam-packed with healthy eating and seasonal exercise ideas, including over 70 recipes. Completing ‘Advanced Nutrition and Sports Supplementation’ REPS level 4 course in 2012 formalised my extensive knowledge of nutrition. Vegan, food allergies and multicultural backgrounds are catered for by Griffen Fitness. I’m a keen allotment gardener, so you may even be presented with some fresh produce or a seasonal recipe. In 2022 I made it to the final round of the Golden Spurtle World Porridge Making Championships in the Scottish Highlands, so I take my oats very seriously.

A keen writer (and contributor to magazines and blogs), in lockdown 2020 I published Get Fit & Enjoy It: Learn Effective Exercise without a Gym which teaches readers how to get fit from home with minimal equipment. I also run corporate workshops and events, please see my LinkedIn profile to book directly.

I see you as an individual, and both nutritional and exercise preferences are hugely personal. Whether you’re looking to tone up, improve your running (from beginners to ultramarathons), implement a strength programme, recover post-injury or illness, I have a wealth of experience and a natural empathy and I’d love to help you.

PT sessions are £55 per one hour session, with free unlimited email support in between each session to guarantee your results.

I recommend new clients book in a for a block of 5 sessions - receive a complimentary copy of the Get Fit & Enjoy It book as part of your package. Studio hours are Mondays to Thursdays 9am to 5.30pm (last session 4.30pm).

I love to chat fitness, so please do drop me a line for a free half hour phone consultation.
